The stock ti bar will work perfectly with a 2.8. 328i's had the same bar as the ti.

Has anyone had experience with 2.25 ID springs on rear? Apparently E30 had good exults for lowering

I have just fitted 4" 600lb spring on the rear of my 97 318ti and results are excellent great feeling/response.

I now want to match this by changing the front coilover springs to suit the rear. I have coilovers that adjust between 30-100mm and have read elsewhere of 350lb being close but I need to know length of spring I would need.

I have also read that normally 7"f / 9"r is standard but this doesn't help me really

Any help appreciated...

How much shorter are the club sport springs compared to the base model?

Will '95 M3 Nurburgring Bilstein struts fit my '97 ti if I use the '97 strut top mount? How about the rear shocks? The struts/shocks came with Mtech springs. But I'll be using my H&R Sport springs if the "N" struts/shocks are usable in my ti. Thanks

The answer is not a simple yes or no.
If you are swapping struts only, then NO.
If you swap out the springs, knuckle, hub, brakes and control arms, then Yes.
Nothing in the rear of an E36 M3 fits the ti.

M3, Non-M3, Ti, blah, blah rear springs are double pig tails. I have seen Non-M3 sedan springs on a dirt Ti it was pretty tall. Maybe I will do Rallycross if I can get my DSM setup for TA. Thanks, I was given these for free to replace my Bilstein HD shock/strut set up. I knew the rear M3 shocks wouldn't work, but was hopeful the front would. I'll just return it and in the future replace HD with Sport set up. Thanks again

Default '98 318ti front strut bar

Wondering if anyone can lend advice here. I recently bought my '98 318ti Avus Blue, in excellent shape. I want to control the body roll in this car, so I am looking for a front strut bar and will add Bilstein shocks and new springs all around soon.

I ordered a strut bar from Bavarian Autosport but it fits an E36, does not fit on my car, it hits the manifold cover. Do I need E30 model? My understanding is that my car is E30 front to the A pillar (engine bay included) then E36 from A pillar on back. Is this correct? Sorry for my ignorance, I have always had a '71 2002 until recently.

Can someone advise a good strut bar for my car?

Thank you!

The 318ti is the same as the E36 Sedan (4-door) from the A-pillar forward, and pretty much unique from there back. Sure, some small parts are interchangeable, but the big parts are unique to this model.

The rear suspension is the same type as found on the E30, but I'll let someone more knowledgeable than me elaborate on interchangeability.

Ditto on this! ^^^

You can basically consider it a 318i from the A pillar forward, suspension, engine bay etc is all 100% sedan E36 (sedan has a shorter hood then coupe, among other little things), the wheel base is the same as any other E36, driveline - trans driveline is same length as any other E36, the diff is basically small case e30, you can easily swap diffs in from a e30 or z3, just remember that if you go to med case diff you will need axles that go with it. Its pretty straightforward in the rear, e30/z3 shocks/springs will fit fine, z3 suspension will be a little shorter though. Mechanically you have a lot of support and parts between the e36/e30/z3 chassis. Oh boy I started getting distracted from the original question.

Look for a sedan e36 strut bar and you should be fine. m52/s52 clearance vs m44 shouldn't be too different. I got a random eibach bar that was for the 318i E36 and it fit fine.

Guys,

I have been working on a complete drive train swap (including Auto to manual conversion) from an '97 M3 and a complete suspension swap from a '99 M Roadster into my '98 318ti. I also did a Randy Forbes rear subframe and diff reinforcement.

The engine is in and running. The The drivetrain is in and I am installing the Street/Track Coliover kit.

Seems crazy to me, but I am unfamiliar with the rear interior of the 318ti and am wondering if there are any links for how to remove the interior pieces so I can remove the rear shocks.

Hate the cold in NJ, but the garage is full of crap so all the work happens outside so the less time I spend mucking about the better.

Thanks in advance!
