i'm totally stoked to have all of the pieces of my life falling back into place. Zippy gets more attention tomorrow...he'll be home in no time!

Update on the parts ya'll ordered for Zippy.
I took the guibo, trans mounts and motor mounts to a friends shop. Got Zippy on a lift and dove in. I wasn't able to get to the motor mounts...time just wouldn't permit us to get to them.
I wanted to say thank you once again...I'm honored to have such friends.

Took one hour. Easy as could be. Even had a smoke break in there too. So, about 50-55 minutes to be accurate.

Hmmm. I had my exhaust off when I did my guibo and it was still a pain. I have a manual trans though so had to keep switching between under the car and in the car (changing between neutral and in-gear to twist the driveshaft for better access to the bolts and to lock it back in place).

Glad yours was easier

Feel any better in actual driving?

It is very smooth now. I should have done it sooner. We put my car in neutral and let the drive-line spin. We removed the entire exhaust, heat shield, and X-brace.
I've got to do my motor mounts...want to help out sometime?

Stupid question but what is the Guibo and were is it located and how do I know it has failed

Guibo (Flex coupling) Rubber/metal cabling (Inside the rubber). It's the end piece with the bolts and studs.

On the end of the driveshaft. It connects to the output flange of the transmission.

After time they may crack and fail. Noisy and loss of transmitted power from the tranny to the diff. I just happen to have my 97 apart for a motor swap.

X-brace? I thought you didn't have one?

Yeah, I should have all the needed ratchet extensions and such for getting to the motor mounts bolts/nuts since I've done it before on mine. We'll likely need to get it up in the air a bit to be able to get a jack with a piece of wood under the oil pan.

Believe it should be good. Check back with me towards the end of the week. Maybe we could do the belts and tensioners on the X5 too.

I'll need to get the bushing pressed into the new brackets before I'm ready to do the front suspension work on the ti. I'll want to get that all done in one weekend so the wife can still drive it to work (gets much better gas mileage than the X5). Have you ordered any parts for refreshing what you need to on your front suspension yet? Just trying to think ahead to when we may be able to bang those out on both our ti's.

No, I haven't ordered any front suspension parts yet. I need to save up a few more dollars first. I need to start saving my scratch for a down payment on our new house in Florida. so, this might be my last purchase before doing that.
