I replaced the guibo and trans mounts last weekend and had intentions to replace the motor mounts at the same time. My friend with the lift had to boogie tho...so, the motor mounts had to wait. Mission accomplished! My poor little Zippy car was in bad shape. There was a bad vibration while in the corners...now we know why. Check out these pictures PS. Thank you E...Zippy feels awesome in the corners now. __________________ Sean 1995 Active | | | 07-29-2012, 04:57 AM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2008 Location: South Central, MN Posts: 1,065 | It's always a nice feeling to have replaced critical parts have fatigued. But, I do know that they were ordered through autohausAZ and shipped quickly. Give them a look. __________________ Sean 1995 Active | | | 07-29-2012, 06:34 PM | #6 | aka Stabby Join Date: Nov 2004 Location: Mead, CO Posts: 5,336 | Fatigued is one thing, completely failed is another. lol Should feel much more solid now with the trans and motor mounts replaced. I can only imagine that the trans mounts were taking a good bit of stress with both motor mounts having failed and being in two separate parts. There wasn't enough room to remove the exhaust. Once I had it on the lift at my friends shop...it went smoothly. It isn't a hard job if you have the right tools (air). Disconnect O2 sensor, remove exhaust, heat shield, loosen transmission support, unbolt flex disc (guibo) and push the drive-line towards the back of the car enough to get it out. There are 6 bolts. Three go in one dirrection, three in the other (you'll see arrows on the disc indicating which is which), make sure to get them in correctly. (take a picture of the one on the car before removal as a reference if you'd like) Button it all up...and you're done. __________________ Sean 1995 Active Last edited by teetime4one; 07-30-2012 at 03:26 AM. | | | 08-07-2012, 07:38 PM | #10 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2009 Location: Orange County, CA Posts: 2,019 | Quote: Originally Posted by teetime4one ..nice and tight! | Te heheh __________________ V2 in progress. Be sure and put some copper anti-seize on the head pipe bolt threads before you reinstall! When you drop the drive shaft, check for excessive play in the u-joints- if your u-joints are shot (very possible if the d/s has never been replaced and you have over 100k miles on it), replacing the guibo may remove some, but not all, of the vibration. | | | 08-07-2012, 08:13 PM | #12 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2012 Location: Sacramento, CA Posts: 2,451 | Quote: Originally Posted by teetime4one Once I had it on the lift at my friends shop...it went smoothly. | I want a lift... Nice to change out the mounts. you wont have much to do soon enough with all the repair and updates you've been doing. Then I think the car will be ready for an S50 swap. __________________ Sean 1995 Active | | | 08-08-2012, 01:15 PM | #14 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2010 Location: Horseheads, NY Posts: 259 | Changed my motor mounts a month ago & both of them looked exactly like yours!
