Default Five-door compact?

According to the Wikipedia page on the BMW Compact:

Quote:
"During 1993/4, BMW built several prototype 5-door compacts, which looked outwardly even more similar to the saloon right back to the C-pillar. However, following the initially disappointing sales response to the Compact (in comparison to the Saloon & Coupe models) BMW decided not to offer a 5-door variant. The prototypes were stripped and the bodyshells disposed of."
Do any pics of these mythical beasts exist online anywhere? Would love to see one. For that matter I think there is room in the BMW lineup for the 3-series compact to exist alongside the 1er. How can we petition BMW to bring back the ti??

by getting a couple million people who can actually afford to buy one to ask, BMW isn't interested in making something they don't think they can sell, which is why they're going to stop selling tourings in the US and probably why they just scrapped all the 5-door concept cars

I'd really like to see that car too, can't seem to find anything on Google though

No Tourings??? build more SUVs?? WTF!?!

Hopefully common sense will prevail here in Europe hehehe

I wouldn't even call them an SUV, they're just crossover type things with really weird roofline, I'm not sure why they decided to release a pretty much untested model to replace a model with poor sales, seems like more of a gamble than anything else, but somehow those are selling

Perhaps they saw the Pontiac Aztek and thought that they really needed in on the 'ugly car with high centre of gravity' market...

Sounds like an awesome car. I think there is a small group of people that like hatchbacks and tourings, myself included. I wish I had a touring model.

If you count the hood, hatch, driver/passenger and fuel door, we all have 5 door compacts
