John- did you consider a topmount? I've seen them fitted for the m42 with the 666 manifold and it doesn't require extensive frame mods. You just have to a COP conversion, and then remove the brackets for the coil pack. I think there may have been a little bit of persuasion needed on the strut tower, but not major.

Sorry for the lack of pictures I do have many but no time to upload and post. I've been at it solid and almost done. I've had the tranny in and out about 6 times now. Many mods to the bell housing to make it fit. Just finished welding the large turbo down pipe and installed. Waiting for a helper to get the trans back in and finish exhaust. Intercooler piping all finished. Turbo oil system all finished, oil cooling system intergrated, cooling system complete. Minor sensor plug in and install top manifold and it's time to start it. I'm thinking around tomorrow afternoon I will be driving it on private property for a little test then park it until I get my license back on the 30th. Will get video for the poll voters I have about 100+ pictures to go through and pick ones to post which I will do when I finish and get it started.

Need to get back on it...I consider myself a fast and efficent worker and this is a bigger job than I thought it would be. I do hope I get the results I want for the hours I've put into it.

QFT!!!

Every person who comes here saying that they want to turbo their M42/M44 needs to read this, and then they need to read this whole thread a few times.

Taking a break....Two days of destruction

Monday body destruction ~ Ran over pointer toe with 2.5 ton engine hoist. Yes engine was on it...Damn that one hurt real bad, not broke but hurts with each step. Ran over left ring toe with compressor wheel...Ouch!!. Put on shoes...In engine bay and tried to climb out, shoe string gets caught and I fall out on wood pallet, brused elbow, skinned knee, brused hip (on security video, very funny). Putting engine back in and using a slim jim to install intercooler hose ~ Banged head on hoist hard, start cussing and throw slim jim, cut left hand on palm (gusher). ALL IN ONE DAY

Tuesday tool destruction ~ Favorite impact speed butterfly blown seals from running it at 140psi. Snapped large flat-head on bellhouse seperation, snapped favorite long wobble head extention removing red loctite bolts with impact gun. Ran over cheep air hose putting away hoist and it went flying everywhere...junk hose. Big scratch on welding goggles when grinder took off under car and ran them over (my fault almost got me). SO FAR TODAY

Hope I'm done with the breaking and body damage I'm too old for this crap

Wow... I was just thinking that I sort of wished I lived near you so I could lend a hand (i.e., learn a lot by watching). Now that I've read about the damages... I think I'm happy living up here... where it's safe. LOL

I don't wanna take this thread offtopic, but your latest adventures with tools reminded me of this: http://humour.200ok.com.au/common-tools-explained.php... Enjoy!!!!

PS: I still crack up after reading it... I've read it probably 20 times...

Exclamation Lurking but now posting

Wish I was there to help, watch and learn. Sounds like you could have used my help as trauma/flight nurse a few times since you started. Pace yourself, buddy. The car is secondary to your health. I'd hate to see your nearly complete build towed behind an ambulance or hurst. PM if you need any health care advice.

Also, do post that vid when you can. We want to watch and laugh WITH you. Honest.

Thanks for the medical offer. Mom's a RN. I've got a bum ticker since I was 16. Untreated rhumatic fever, prolapsed the mitral bad and the atrial is jacked up bad too. Going to need to get them replaced soon...

Default ReBuild the Builder?

Looking at porcine or mechanicals? Anticloagulants will suck for a guy like you but so would a redo in 10-12yrs. In light of your Police troubles, it'd be pretty ironic if you ended up w/ a pig valve! LOL!
