That's something you figure out when your tuning your engine. The plug rating will change based on boost, fuel, compression, etc.. For instance a standard plug works for street on many, but if your at teh track you running a cold race plug and changing them more often. The multi electrode plugs usually dont need the gap adjusted. Cheers. __________________ Dave - PDX 1995 318ti - Active Black and Tan. 2005 330xi - Mtech 1 - 6spd - Orient Blue/Black | | | 07-28-2014, 07:05 AM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2014 Location: USA Posts: 444 | off topic, but more info on your turbo m44?? | | | 07-29-2014, 06:21 AM | #4 | Member Join Date: Oct 2013 Location: usa Posts: 39 | I figured there would be an ideal gap range for an M42/M44 engine under 7-14 lbs of boost. I know that running a colder plug definitely helps. I'll probably experiment with different plugs and gap ranges to see how the car responds. E36 TI-M, if you read through the turbo install JohnBoy did for Yoda, it's that same exact setup. The car was tuned for 14-15 PSI by Midnight Tuning, but I currently have it set for 7-8 lbs. | | | 07-29-2014, 07:00 AM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2007 Location: Gulfport, Florida Posts: 3,208 | Depending on boost PSI Autolite #3923 or #3922 for turbo I-4. Fancy expensive plugs use hard metals so they last longer between spark plug changes. I believe these metals don't conduct electricity as good as a soft metal plug that uses copper. I change my plugs every 25,000 miles. Autolite #3924 for stock motor no boost Autolite #3923 for boost PSI up to 12 PSI Autolite #3922 for boost PSI up to 29 PSI | | | 07-30-2014, 05:15 AM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2005 Location: Portland Or Posts: 2,666 | Funny Autolite is the only plug that holds up in a 2 stroke go cart..
