When I get the damned windows fixed I might just blow the wad and get BMW to replace the part. What kind of POs me is that all this crap was working fine until I loaned the company vehicle to staff for a couple weeks to get to a difficult job site and they destroyed the plastic I had to cover the windows. I replaced it for the second week (I don't let them keep the car over the weekend) and they destroyed that plastic too. It was raining very hard a lot of that time, so I'm pretty sure it was water damage all around the drivers' side. Leaving a car with no window in pouring rain that's 20 years old is just asking for trouble. I might be able to save some $ buy buying the part and just giving it to the dealership to install, but dealerships are notorious for bilking you out of as much money as possible and anything "luxury" (if you'd call a 20 year old car with 350K on it luxury) they always find a way to say your car isn't safe and they can't let it back on the road without replacing a bunch of non-essential crap. Brakes I can see of course but they are ingenious at finding things.

My regular mechanic might be able to do it but he's not a BMW specialist and I don't know how much electrical he does. When I get the plugs replaced I'll ask him. He might know somewhere to get the part and may be able to install it.

Re: the staff. They put 360kms on it going from Surrey BC to Surrey BC over 8 days. That's enough to go from Surrey to Whistler and back 3 times. Hence I don't let them keep the car over the weekend. In the future I might make them return it daily. With premium gasoline prices at 174/L and them not being too good at refilling it as discussed, that's a lot of extra gas. Driving around in circles or providing a taxi service, perhaps.

On the upside, due to an o2 sensor problem with the Jeep, I took the 318 for a spin to drop off the lady at the train for work. Traction control warning light came off once I put it into gear. Yay. One less problem to deal with. The lady was a bit paranoid me driving it on the road with expired paper plates, but I had to take the time to explain to her that if a car sits for too long weird problems just start appearing because they like to be driven. Not quite sure she got it, but she certainly got to the train on time. Haha. I think she's a bit afraid of the BMW because I gave her a taste of drifiting for a few seconds just for fun. But WTH, I love it. I only bought the Jeep for work purposes.

The microswitch on the doors and the dimmer are still problems. But manageable. Of course the windows, but the windows is more a problem due to a hard to find item and problems with the mechanic doing the pulls and the shipping company smashing one. How that mechanic came up with "Place around back by appliances" with "Place around back with the garbage" I'll never know. Good thing it wasn't garbage day, but being the wrong side window at least it didn't get crushed in a garbage truck and I can send it back.

Have to hand it to AllBMWParts though, the man isn't the cheapest option but he can always seem to find what nobody else can find. Between the shipping company smashing a window and the mechanic sending me the wrong window he was ready to just load a pallet with the whole door and send it direct to my installer and then have the remainder of the door sent back.
