M44 engine cuts out on bump... Well, I have an interesting case... It's my Z3 1.9 w/ DASC... I had my car running perfect for a while, on the DASC w/ NickG's stage2 software... and sure enough I wanted more. I sent my ECU back to Technique Tuning and purchased the stage3 program... oh, and I picked up a brand new Bosch MAF for it as well. I told him it's for 91 pump, so he said he'll "take care of it". This was earlier this year... maybe spring? Anyway, when I got the ecu back, I only drove around the block a couple times, because I was working on the exterior. Fast forward to now. I had to drive around town while getting estimates for a paint job, and whenever I hit certain bumps on the road, the engine would cut out for a split second. the RPM needle also drops completely, but it jumps right back to life soon after (literally feels like split second). This makes it rather undriveable, because I dont know when it's going to cut out again. It doesnt stall or anything. Oh yea, the traction control light also goes on and stays on after this happens. (the one between the MPH and Tach). Turning off my traction control doesnt help. It will still cut out. Someone once told me if a chip is worked on an ECU, there's a chance a solder connection could be bad or something... (unless NickG uses reflash) It would behave similarly on bumps or vibrations. Either that or I might have a sensor that's on it's way out. Maybe bad crank or cam sensor? Can those act this way from bumps? Anything else it could be? Perhaps something common to the Z3 chassis/electricals? One more interesting thing, is the stage3 software actually seems weaker or slower than the stage2. Not sure if it's all related... but would desperately like to have all these bugs worked out... |
