Maybe it's been just too long ago. __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti • 2003 MINI Cooper S • 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org | | | 03-25-2016, 06:10 AM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2005 Location: Portland Or Posts: 2,666 | Not on my 1995 M42 which never has the gap cover unless its added. By any chance at one end is there a gadget with 2 hoses hooked to it? Probably on the end at the passenger side. It looks like how they insulate the pipes for a plug in forced flow engine heater. You might have a power cord coiled up under the bumper, or a connector on the gadget. __________________ Dave - PDX 1995 318ti - Active Black and Tan. 2005 330xi - Mtech 1 - 6spd - Orient Blue/Black | | | 03-25-2016, 06:37 AM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: Oct 2008 Location: Los Angeles, CA Posts: 1,464 | No, that hose is absolutely correct- intake air hose for M44. As E36 TI-M stated, it's missing the plastic protective cover that hides it, as partially shown in the photo below: EDIT: Oops- the arrow is actually pointing to the cover section that you still have- there's obviously another plastic piece that you're missing, I just don't have a photo readily available to show for comparison. __________________ 1995 318ti Base - Cosmosschwarz/Sandgrau R.I.P. 1997 318ti Active - Alpinweiß III/Sandgrau 2013 328i Coupe - Le Mans Blau Last edited by zoner; 03-25-2016 at 06:43 AM. | | | 03-25-2016, 06:40 AM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2005 Location: Portland Or Posts: 2,666 | Ah,, My 95 has the tube that goes straight forward through the core support and gets air at the left of the grill.. No the Fogg airbox makes sense on the later cars. __________________ Dave - PDX 1995 318ti - Active Black and Tan. 2005 330xi - Mtech 1 - 6spd - Orient Blue/Black | | | 03-25-2016, 06:49 AM | #9 | Senior Member Join Date: Oct 2008 Location: Los Angeles, CA Posts: 1,464 | Yep, M42 is a completely different intake/air box setup. M42 draws intake air from the left side of the radiator; M44 from the right. __________________ 1995 318ti Base - Cosmosschwarz/Sandgrau R.I.P. 1997 318ti Active - Alpinweiß III/Sandgrau 2013 328i Coupe - Le Mans Blau | | | 03-26-2016, 02:15 AM | #10 | Junior Member Join Date: Mar 2016 Location: Maryland Posts: 13 | It is called the Air Intake Duct | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
