most likely you have a bad O2 sensor and that's it

I'll replace the sensor, and hopefully the computer will respond by resetting. Thanks for your help.

See, I replaced my o2 sensor just in case, eventhough it didn't need replacement and I my OBD still generates some code(don't remember what) which is due to my bad Cat Converter now. If you don't have check engine on, you shouldn't worry too much

I finally got some information about the 1284 code!!! From what I've discovered that code is thrown when your alternator is becoming faulty or has been faulty. I replaced my alternator last fall and did the reset trick and I've drove about 50 miles so far and no codes!!! WOOT! If anyone wants/needs to know the reset trick let me know. Even though I'm not sure what all cars it works on, but I do know for sure it works on a 94 318is!! Hope this helps some people with that 1284 code.

Default OBD-I code 1238

My '95 is showing multiple instances of code 1238, which I don't find documented anywhere. Has anyone ever figured out what this code indicates? TIA

Hi Folks- I was able to retrieve the fault codes from my ECU per the instructions in this write-up, but I can't figure out how to reset/clear them. The only code I got was 1286, which I think has to do with the knock sensor circuit. I'd like to clear the codes and then see if it comes back. I just got the car so I have no idea how long that code has been there. It's a 1995 318ti.

My auto electrician is having an issue with an error code: 108 continuous voltage/power, this code will not allow him to progress any further in terms of programming either of my ECU's which includes my old unit.
He removed my ECU and put the one I purchased from a BMW dealer and this is the error code that it gave, he replaced it with my old one and the same thing happened. Basically he has searched high and low though the internet and most BMW information doesn't appear to have this code?
My car doesnt start well in the morning, once warm it runs well. It almost seems like the motor wont reconnise when its cold?????

We have change the coil, new titanium plugs, checked air flow hose, change rev/idle control? the electrican has recently up graded his BOSCH code reader and this errors codes started at 100 but still no 108 error code help...!!!!!
any thoughts?
