Default A/C problem, need advice please

I had gotten a freon recharge last summer and the mechanic had put dye in there to check for leaks. And now, apparently the freon leaked out because the a/c doesn't blow cold air out anymore. Would the mechanic still be able to tell where the leak was after all this time? If I take it back to him, would that be considered a follow up to the first time I took it in for the a/c problem? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

not sure on the dye, it's possible if it left a trail at the leak. i would call the mechanic you had perform the work and ask him whether or not it would be covered and if not, what he charge to re-diagnose. if he can locate the leak, i'm sure you'd still have to pay for repairs to fix the leak, but he might do the recharge for free. does the original receipt list anything about warranty terms for the work performed?

I'll have to dig up the receipt and see, but I don't think the warranty lasts more than 3 months or something like that. I guess that would be the first step and then I'll have to call him. Which I dread doing because I just got a new radiator put in by him and I don't know if I like him much anymore to keep going back to him. I'll get back to you to let you know how things pan out.

Btw, can anybody recommend a good, reasonably priced bmw shop/mechanic around the Northern VA area?

Did your mechanic replace the whole condensor? If so, was it new or rebuilt? How much was it?
I may be doing the same soon...

Hey wow, you live in springfield? Do you have a red ti with sport wheels? I may have seen you driving around :P

Anyways, 2 good mechanics. One is a bit far in manassas, called Manassas Motorwerks, but they go very good work.

The other is Martin Motorsports in Alexandria, its pretty close, he works off Pickett St. which is right off Van Dorn.

Maybe I'll cya round.
