I'm not sure the airbox in it's current size will fit in an E36. In an E30, he had to remove the brake booster, but it comes with the mounting plate and resivoire. There is some wiring to figure out as it was partially disassembled when we received the car, but it ran. I drove it on and off the trailer. You'll need to wire in your crank angle sensor and modify the tune to work with a maganetic as opposed to hall effect (what the previous motor had).

I cannot speak to the gains, as it came off a car that was fire damaged at the rear (it was parked on the street and the car behind caught fire).

I also don't know if the airbox will fit in an E36 engine bay as we purchased the car, drove it on the trailer, drove it into the garage, and tore it down.

It will bolt up to the M44, but I don't know what it will take to make it work with an M44 and a stock ECU.

It's a great part but wiill likely require modification to work with your car. ITBs and an ECU are not bolt on upgrades like a cat back or cold air intake.
