Default Troubleshooting AC - Compressor works, low side pressure good

Hi all,

Well, after driving 2 hours in 106 degree weather yesterday, my wife has finally convinced me to tackle fixing the AC in my 1998 318ti.

I first checked the compressor and the clutch was not engaging. Long story, short, the system was empty and therefore the pressure switch (I think in the dryer) was not allowing the AC relay (#14 in the fuse box) to activate the clutch.

FYI - when working the relay closes to allow a 12 V DC signal to pass through fuse 39 and engage the electromagnetic clutch on the compressor. I trouble shot this by jumping the relay to show the clutch worked, and then refilling the system, and putting the relay back in place.

The clutch now engages when I hit the AC button inside and I have 35 PSI on the low side when the AC is compressor is running. But I still have hot air at the vents.....

I've hit the limit of my Bentley manual which mostly covers the non-ti HCAV systems.

Any thoughts why? Is there some flap that needs to be opened to allow air to come in from over the evaporator? I have fixed the boden cable that controls the heat flap, but is there something else that I'm missing for the AC? I see there is an "AC control module" listed in realoem. (#3 in attached image). Anyone know what this does?

Any thoughts or help appreciated. Thanks!!
