I looked at the headlights and I wondered how could I put the angel eyes inside. As I can see the front glass is clued to the main body with something that looks like a black tar. I don't see any way to open it. Can you tell me what is the easiest way. I don't wanna brake the plastic trying to open it. And one more thing, when I put the angel eyes, where should I put their cables thru, to show them on the back, where the other connectors are. Thank you | | | 08-11-2006, 11:55 AM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2005 Location: England, UK Posts: 1,288 | I've got those Depo Headlight units, The sealant only holds the glass to the housing. you'll need to remove the 4 clips (2 top, 2 bottom) and there's a few screws i believe that hold the unit together as a whole. unfortuently i can't show you as mine are on the car. Good luck. I'll try and dig out the guide later! __________________ 1995 BMW 316i Cosmos Black Mods: • Magnex Cat-Back Exhaust • Smoked Corner Lights + Repeators • M3 17" Wheels • De-Baffled Air Box • AC HandBrake Handle and Gear Knob • DEPO Euro Epsiloids + Predator Chronium Rings • Chrome Interior bits •IE Poly-Urethane RSFMs • Kenwood Power Series Audio • Powder Coated e36 325 Front Callipers • Sports Seats | | | 08-11-2006, 02:25 PM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2006 Location: 43609 Posts: 3,425 | Quote: Originally Posted by stormos I've got those Depo Headlight units, The sealant only holds the glass to the housing. you'll need to remove the 4 clips (2 top, 2 bottom) and there's a few screws i believe that hold the unit together as a whole. unfortuently i can't show you as mine are on the car. Everyone who sees them compliments on how sexy they are. Once you get the glass cover off, be careful putting the eyes in cause its a tight fit, if your too rough you could break the CCFl tubes. __________________ _____________________________________________ Cold air, Dual Exhaust, Ellipsoid headlights, CCFL Angel Eyes, custom ICE, M3 wheels, Cobra Radar Detector, CF eyebrows, ACS CF gauge bezel, clear corners, Euro tail lights. Anything is better than stock, but depo couldnt be all that bad compared to zkw and others, right? __________________ 1995 Hellrot Clubsport 318ti -Gone 1996 Schwartz II Sport 357ti - 5.7L V8 LS1/6 1997 Moregrun Metallic 318ti - Gone 1998 Schwartz II sport 318ti - M50TUB25/5 | | | 08-11-2006, 03:15 PM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2006 Location: Norfolk, Virginia Posts: 289 | I dunno man, but ill tell you that im very happy with mine, ive seen the ZKW's on other peoples cars and really dont see what the big deal is. __________________ _____________________________________________ Cold air, Dual Exhaust, Ellipsoid headlights, CCFL Angel Eyes, custom ICE, M3 wheels, Cobra Radar Detector, CF eyebrows, ACS CF gauge bezel, clear corners, Euro tail lights. Be prepared for no instructions and faulty wiring. Other than that, they look great... __________________ | | | 08-11-2006, 06:34 PM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2006 Location: Weymouth, MA Posts: 215 | The quality looks good. Glass cover glass and lenses. I haven't seen them lighting yet but I hope soon. I think this buy is good for the price $240 How do you guys disassemble the headlights. Like I told you, there is a black tar used for sealing which is hard and holds strong. I think that, if i try to push it too much I could break the glass. Is there any trick to open the headlights? Thank you | | | 08-11-2006, 06:38 PM | #9 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2006 Location: Norfolk, Virginia Posts: 289 | As stated earlier in this post, there are 4 black clips that hold the front glass to the unit. If you are trying to cut the black sealant, you are wrong. Get a screwdriver or something and just pop off the clips, then there are little tabs on either side of the headlight assembly that you need to pop open, and the cover comes off. i dunno who you got your DEPO's from, but mine came with great directions. __________________ _____________________________________________ Cold air, Dual Exhaust, Ellipsoid headlights, CCFL Angel Eyes, custom ICE, M3 wheels, Cobra Radar Detector, CF eyebrows, ACS CF gauge bezel, clear corners, Euro tail lights. I have been holding off for about 4 months on removing the glass also. Nick, mine didnt come with any directions. I also bought some epoxy to glue down the angel eyes, I'm just worried about the heat from the headlights affecting the epoxy. I'm seriously just going to pry the plastic from the glass and hope that does it. | | | 08-11-2006, 06:54 PM | #11 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2006 Location: Weymouth, MA Posts: 215 | Quote: Originally Posted by USMC318ti As stated earlier in this post, there are 4 black clips that hold the front glass to the unit. It looks strong holded from the epoxy which is all around the glass. I contacted the seller if he can give me any guide how to do that. I am waiting for his response now. To glue the angel eyes I plan to use hight temperature silicon which should work fine | | | 08-11-2006, 07:11 PM | #12 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2006 Location: Norfolk, Virginia Posts: 289 | When you pop those tabs, the top doesnt come straight off, its on there pretty good, it kinda hinges open. Yo Bobby, if your not doing anything this weekend, you could come down here and hang out at my place and we could put your lights together and install them if you want? You wont need any sort of glue to hold them in, they sit rather nicely. There are tabs inside of the assembly that screw the headlights in tight, there-in holding the angel eyes securely. Feel free to call me if anyone is having further problems. 717-418-3018 __________________ _____________________________________________ Cold air, Dual Exhaust, Ellipsoid headlights, CCFL Angel Eyes, custom ICE, M3 wheels, Cobra Radar Detector, CF eyebrows, ACS CF gauge bezel, clear corners, Euro tail lights. Sidenote: I just broke off one of the tabs, I'm telling you, there are the tabs on the sides, but its glued in too. | | | 08-11-2006, 08:58 PM | #14 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2006 Location: Weymouth, MA Posts: 215 | Ok, I successfully opened one of the headlights. The next step is to put the angel eyes inside which doesn't look so easy. I unscrewed the bolts holding the glass lens. When I place the angel eyes inside, I couldn't put back the lens with the screws, because the angel eyes have some plastic extension on the top. This plastic part make the whole too tight to fit the lens again.
