I have an idea that might allow ppl to install angel eyes into the stock US headlights. This has probably been brought up already, but a search yielded nothing like it. My good buddy drives a Mazda 3 wagon. We were talking about cars and angel eyes was brought up. I said that I would have to buy a Euro style headlight set before I could do them because the lens was not removable. He told me that ppl were installing AEs on their Mazdas that didn't have removable lenses. Evidently they remove the headlight assembly and bake it in the oven for 15-18min at 200degF. This heats up the glue that holds the lens on enough for you to pull the lens off. They install the AEs, then either seal it up with silicone, or reheat the glue again and stick em back together. Although I'd be wary putting AE bulbs into a 200deg oven, I think it is a great idea. My questions are, is it indeed a glue that holds the lens on a US headlight? Are there any reasons that this wouldn't work? I saw a 5-series in the bimmerfest pics that had the highbeams done french style (yellow) behind the lens, and it looked uber-sexy. I was figuring on using this oven method to do the highbeam with yellow lamin-x. This method would also allow ppl to install AEs on US headlights. Also, is there a lens (round) over the high beam bulb? Not the outer lens, but actually inside the enclosure. If I'm gonna do my lamin-x mod on the high beam, there has to be something for me to put the film on. EDIT: When asking about the inner lens I was referring to the ZKWs. | | | 05-09-2006, 11:23 PM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2004 Location: Cherry Hill, NJ Posts: 127 | or you could get a nice euro Bosch set like I picked up....they are hard to find since they are off euro cars (ltw M's...but they are out there....found mine for VERY CHEAP shipped from Germany) | | | 05-09-2006, 11:24 PM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2004 Location: Cherry Hill, NJ Posts: 127 | then just get the wiring harness PnP kit from umnitza.com for 35 | | | 05-09-2006, 11:40 PM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2005 Location: Toronto Posts: 167 | Or you can go Ebay. They were made by DEPO. | | | 05-09-2006, 11:49 PM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2004 Location: Long Beach area Posts: 1,189 | Quote: Originally Posted by KetteringTi I have an idea that might allow ppl to install angel eyes into the stock US headlights. I think that is it glue that holds the US spec headlights though... If you can pull it off with the US headlights, I would like to see it. -Randy __________________ 97 Jet Black 318ti Sport.
