I'm not sure if it's the starter motor, battery or even anti-theft kicking in with current key. I've never had an issue with starting the car at all! Odometer is at 286k.
I only have one key available so I'll have to get a spare made to try to see if car will start. Can I still make a spare key and try? (I need a spare regardless)
Every once and a while mine will not start/crank when I turn the key. But it always cranks the second time. I can take a picture of a wiring diagram if that helps you.
I'm no expert, but i'd start by checking the battery, the battery ground, the engine ground right below the battery box. Make sure they all have good contact and are free of corrosion.
I had the same issue but it was 3 different problems.
Check/try 1 of 3
1. First try to turn your wheel so it is not locked into place - cheapest fix 2. It could be your battery - $100-130 fix 3. If the Key sometimes spins then your ignition switch is going bad $457 parts
I just recently had to replace my Ignition switch, after a valet broke the anti theft piece. Cost me $457 to replace all 3 sections with re-key from factory.
All the best
Guess I should have read your final post that you fixed it....
