I haven't seen this swap done before, but I would call Zionsville and ask them. They are the swap masters. __________________

I've seen an S54 transplanted into an E36 coupe a while back...

Yes it is possible. By my calculations it would cost at least 10-12 thousand dollars. With a tune and teck3 management. The biggest problem is what to do with the vanos. Lots of threads on this on Bf.c.... It's been done, it's horrendously complicated/expensive, and I bet it's fun as hell to drive.

Siastuning's car is running tec3 and has the Vanos working (S54 in e36), last I heard. You mean, does he make house calls? I believe I've heard of him doing that, although I suppose it isn't cheap. There's an article in the current Sports Car where he talks about tuning strategies.
