And pro's/con's. Just want to know how they do in the 3.2L. | | | 01-09-2006, 05:40 PM | #2 | Moderator Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Bouncing off the rev limiter in CT! Posts: 3,156 | I do not know of anyone here with a conversion and cams. Schrick is probably the best manufacturer of 'hot' cams for the BMW engines, and the brand I suggest you look at first. | | | 01-09-2006, 06:22 PM | #3 | Member Join Date: Jan 2006 Location: VA. beach Posts: 61 | Quote: Originally Posted by J!m I do not know of anyone here with a conversion and cams. Its the best in the market available for NA E36 M3 Engine, plus you have the safety on running your engine to 7500rpm on stock internals. | | | 01-09-2006, 09:25 PM | #5 | Member Join Date: Jan 2006 Location: VA. beach Posts: 61 | Quote: Originally Posted by Dredder you might want to check out http://www.bimmerworld.com for thier sunbelt cam. Turner Motorsports did the install, along with new retainers. They dyno'd the car before and after the cams and I picked up 10rwhp. It's not as much as I had hoped for, but Turner compared this to their database of other cars dyno'd on their Dynapack and it was on par with what was to be expected. I immediately noticed that the car pulled harder at higher rpms and the exhaust note was much more agressive, even at idle. Was it worth it? Prob not if you are looking for pure HP gains. For that, I would look into FI, but i was looking to build a solid NA motor with close to 300 crank HP (285-290 now). To get there, I need some head work and probably headers. Sunbelt cams seem to be all the rage now, but it's new and unproven. Hard to see how they can claim a stock motor reving to 7500 rpm safely just with cams. Plus, I will have to pass CA smog, which Schricks have been able to do, but I could not be sure with Sunbelts. Pros: a little more power and better breathing at high rpms, better sound, definitely needed for the "ultimate" NA motor Cons: Mostly the cost, some of which you recoupe from selling your old cams __________________ '95 330ti CS w/sr delete, S50USB30, cams, 24# inj, Conforti SW, Euro HFM, Samco Silicone Intake Boot, BBTB, Euro Oil Cooler, JTD CAI Duct, RE DMS exhaust, RE Tranny mounts, CF Valve Cover, LTW flywheel/Kevlar sprung hub clutch, RE SSK, 3.46 Finned LSD (M6) , M3 tranny, Brembos, RE Wheel Studs, SS brake/clutch lines, CF interior, Rear Headrest retrofit, Tilt Steering retrofit, 13.5 lb DynaBatt in rear, LED interior/footwell lights, ZKW HID, Headlight Aim Control, Rear fog light w/cluster indicator, CF 3 Aux gauge pod, BMW Traffic Pro/Alpine MP3-CD Changer, Staggered LTW wheels, '95 M3 steering rack, VIS CF Hood, M3 LTW Strut Bar, TCK SA coilovers, Red LTW Motorsport Seatbelts, OEM Fire Extinguisher, Z8 Starter button, Auto dim rear view mirror w/ Homelink/Compass, PDC, Rear Sun Shade, Euro Gauge Cluster w/oil temp/shift light , Headlight Washers, "Motorsport" Door Handles, CF Grills, French ZKW Fogs, Euro dash bins, Power Lumbar Support is next, Coming e39 M5 interior light, Bimmer Magazine 8/2007 | | | 01-13-2006, 12:12 AM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2005 Location: Portland, Oregon Posts: 484 | how much does a stock s50 cam go for now a days? __________________ S50 Swap, Euro 3.5" HFM (MAF), my custom Chip, Cosmo CAI, Custom Exhaust, 6 Cyl. They had 63k Mobil1 miles on them. I've seen them go for anywhere from $250 - $400. __________________ '95 330ti CS w/sr delete, S50USB30, cams, 24# inj, Conforti SW, Euro HFM, Samco Silicone Intake Boot, BBTB, Euro Oil Cooler, JTD CAI Duct, RE DMS exhaust, RE Tranny mounts, CF Valve Cover, LTW flywheel/Kevlar sprung hub clutch, RE SSK, 3.46 Finned LSD (M6) , M3 tranny, Brembos, RE Wheel Studs, SS brake/clutch lines, CF interior, Rear Headrest retrofit, Tilt Steering retrofit, 13.5 lb DynaBatt in rear, LED interior/footwell lights, ZKW HID, Headlight Aim Control, Rear fog light w/cluster indicator, CF 3 Aux gauge pod, BMW Traffic Pro/Alpine MP3-CD Changer, Staggered LTW wheels, '95 M3 steering rack, VIS CF Hood, M3 LTW Strut Bar, TCK SA coilovers, Red LTW Motorsport Seatbelts, OEM Fire Extinguisher, Z8 Starter button, Auto dim rear view mirror w/ Homelink/Compass, PDC, Rear Sun Shade, Euro Gauge Cluster w/oil temp/shift light , Headlight Washers, "Motorsport" Door Handles, CF Grills, French ZKW Fogs, Euro dash bins, Power Lumbar Support is next, Coming e39 M5 interior light, Bimmer Magazine 8/2007 | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
