Rear brakes and shocks the day before. Front brakes and windshield on Saturday. Looks better now. Probably install today. | | | 02-14-2016, 08:32 PM | #200 | Member Join Date: Aug 2015 Location: Arizona Posts: 99 | Yesterday finally did some work on the car. I managed to replace the intake boots, air filter, air intake gasket and injectors. The injectors were especially bad. I purchased rebuilt injectors from BMWstone. I definitely recommend going through them! I still need to do the fuel filter, but I couldn't get the nut holding the bracket off. Far too rotted out. I also need a new fuel filter cover plate, as mine was trashed. Took it for a long drive. Definitely driving better but it's time to address suspension, bushings and clutch. Also this Orange compact parked next to me the other day. If anyone knows the owner (here in Arizona) I'd love to know! | | | 02-23-2016, 04:03 AM | #201 | Member Join Date: Aug 2015 Location: Arizona Posts: 99 | No pictures, but recap over the last few days. After doing the injectors I was leaking fuel real bad out of the return line off the fuel rail. Turns out I needed those tiny o-rings there, but I don't remember seeing them when we pulled the rail. Replaced those and no more leak. Today I did a last minute oil change. I was over due anyways (I know, I know) but I had to get it done before driving out of town. Last but not least, I ordered a full Condor Speed Shop solid bushing kit. About to start prepping for Bimmerfest, so along with a clutch, coilovers and a few other goodies, those will be going on. | | | 02-28-2016, 04:29 AM | #202 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2012 Location: Sacramento, CA Posts: 2,451 | Fixed a dumb engine swap error. When I swapped in a M44 into a 97 (Blanca) I have, I left one of the old exhaust manifold gaskets for cyl 3&4 and installed two new gaskets, one on top of the old one. Hence, I had an exhaust leak in Cyl 2. All fixed now. I was thinking I had a cracked exhaust manifold, so I guess it worked out OK. Lesson: STOP when you are exhausted and it's dark an you can't see the #$+&%^ original gasket. Washed Blanca and Tiny, installed a set of wheel locks on Blanca and prepped to swap out an oil pan tomorrow. __________________ 1998 318ti Sport - "Cali" Schwartz II/Schwartz sport interior, Cali top 1998 318ti Sport - "Max" Schwartz II/Schwartz sport interior, S52 1997 318ti Sport - "Tiny" Schwartz II/Schwartz sport interior 1995 318ti Active - "Blanca" Alpineweib III/Schwartz leather interior Other Current Bimmers: 2006 530i / 2000 2.3L Z3 / 1997 1.9L Z3 / 1999 540it 1997 318ti Sport - "Huera" - RIP 1995 318ti Active - RIP 1995 318ti Sport - "Tiny" Sold 1994 325i Sedan - "Jade" - Sold 1991 318ic - "Bert" - Sold 1985 635csi sold 1984 533i "Max" Sold 1984 318i sold BMWCCA #160411 SUPPORT 318ti.org! I guess a M62tu gasket wouldn't work. Anyway, pulled and cleaned the replacement pan. I also could hear the muffler or resonator pipe had a hole, so I pulled a spare Supersprint I had in storage. The OEM catback had a split along the seam of the pipe. Really sounded terrible. Purrs now. I just need to run it around for awhile before I bring it in for SMOG. Just working down the list for this TI. SMOG this week, Oil pan and suspension next weekend. Fixed the window on my Wife's TI and reattached stanchions on two drivers door panels. All of the cars need something done just now, so, just working through each car. Trying to figure out central locking right now. | | | 03-01-2016, 01:01 AM | #205 | Member Join Date: Sep 2015 Location: Columbus, OH Posts: 91 | This weekend I installed a new JVC Bluetooth head unit. Nice to have a working display now and a radio that doesn't cut out when I hit a bump. I immediately plastidipped the chrome trim piece black to clean up the look. Got a quote to rewrap it in alcantara with m-color stitching. So that'll be sent out fairly soon. Also picked up some M3 sedan mirrors. They're Boston green unfortunately, so I ordered a can of color matched Ascotgrun. They'll get resprayed and put on my car soon. Still struggling to find the source of the hesitation. Still need to do fuel filter but the bolt clamping the old one in is rusted to the point where I can't remove it. Also struggling with the ASC kicking on and staying on. It used to be on 100% of the time before the injectors, now it comes on after 10min of driving or so. This weekend the car is going up on jackstands for the bushings/clutch and some other little things. Coilovers will not be in on time to do it all at once, but they aren't too difficult to install. | | | 03-01-2016, 05:55 PM | #207 | Member Join Date: Nov 2015 Location: missouri Posts: 99 | I put the dasc back on this weekend | | | 03-01-2016, 06:34 PM | #208 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2007 Location: Gulfport, Florida Posts: 3,208 | Quote: Originally Posted by andakn I put the dasc back on this weekend | Please, Please Please video of the motor under boost and nitrous. I had some setbacks with the twin charged motor I'm building. Still waiting to hear if I have found a good head and waiting to get the Block back from the machine shop. So I got tired of driving the car without the supercharger, love the gas mileage, but missing my power. I get it down the two nitro shots, the single fogger is at about a 75 shot, and the direct port kit I move down to about 150- 175 shot. Hopefully that will still be safe to run on the stock motor. But I guess I'll find out | | | 03-03-2016, 10:06 PM | #210 | Member Join Date: Aug 2015 Location: Arizona Posts: 99 | Picked up an E28 m5 3.45 LSD today. PO already put on an E30 diff cover, and an AKG bushing. He also resealed it and put in fresh oil, so it saves me a bit of work there. But I'm likely taking out the bushing and putting in my condor just to have everything matching. | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
