A guy is selling a set of side skirts from a 1999 318ti. He says they are the "lux style" and not the "twisties". Did they ever make two types of side skirts for the M-tech versions? Maybe the M-tech side skirts are different than the 1999 skirts. __________________

The twisties do fit. Do look at J!M's car in the gallery. Compare it to the non twistie M-tech 318ti skirts on my car. __________________

Base model is just the metal sill (grey on my daily 318ti), 318ti M-tech is the non twistie plastic body colored cover, and the twistie is the same covering found on the M3. __________________

I have a base model, and my side skirts are painted the color of my car. What is the difference between base and m-tech besides painted or unpainted? Are they the same exact mold? The base model has no cover, just the plain metal of the body, and on the 1995 model, they are painted gray. After 1995 they were painted the color of the car, but I'm not sure if they put the plastic sill cover over the metal. I'm sure other with late model tis can chime in here. My M-tech has the plastic non twistie side sill covers that have the same basic profile as the metal underneath. The M3 version of the plastic sill cover is the one with a slight "twist". Hope that clears things up a bit. __________________

Let me ask you, do you have a plastic cover over your sills? If you do, then you basically have the M-tech sills. If it's just metal painted the color of your car, then you don't. As far as looks, it's very minor. The basic shape is the same, but the sills stick out a little more (1/4 inch) just do to the fact that they are covers and they may hang slightly lower, but it takes a keen eye to tell. Most people will never know. The twisties, however, do look different (J!M's car) __________________
