How do I find my VIN / Chassis number on my 318TI ?

hi guys, first post and it might seem like a very obvious question, but where can i find the VIN / CHASSIS number for my 318ti compact (X reg 2000) issue...i have looked under the bonnet but its just a haze of oil is there anywhere specific i can look at? ive looked on and around the engine but cant see much under the oil... any help would be appreciated. Decals are all around the car, but the most obvious place is the lower corner of the windshield, driver's side. It's attached to the dash.

Also a placard on the driver's side door jamb.

I think he's in the UK, they don't have the external VIN on the windshield, door jamb should have it though

do you have any registration papers that might have it on there?

I was thinking York, PA.

There may be a decal on the hatch too, although I wonder if it is a US DOT thing.
