Default i figured i might as well introduce myself

my name is john. i bought my 318ti november 2009 and love it. i've had several cars on the past. a 1994 for aerostar, 1996 toyota tercel, and a 1997 toyota corolla. all 3 cars reliable but handled like crap. i ended up buying my ti when i accidently ran over big piece of metal with my tercel that fell off the back of a truck. i had been looking at ti's for a while, and i figured why not.

i've been wanting a hatchback for their versatility, a rear wheel drive, like the way bmw's handle, not to mention dig the way the ti looks. i finally found one in winchester virginia. of course the window regulator was bent, so that has been replaced since. there was a belt missing from the ac condenser, and a couple scratches on the body, but not rust. i picked it up for $4500 with a little under 80k on the motor. it needed a couple small repairs, but thanks to the knowledgeable members on this site and the handy bentley manual my ti's almost in tip top shape. i just have to replace the thermostat, and catalytic converter.

it has been a learning experience to say the least. but i was hell bent on keeping it, even though my girlfriend wanted me to take it back. i didn't mind that things were wrong with it, i've had fun so far wrenching on it (so far) it gives me something to do on the weekends.

no, it hadn't been keyed. i'm not sure what happened to it? looks like a tree limb may have fallen on it. the scratches were only noticeable from close up, and had touch-up paint on them, so i didn't care.

i bought it from a place called gasoline alley in winchester va. they were the only ones that had a ti with no sunroof, and a 5 speed, and black, which is what i wanted. the only thing it didn't have that i wanted was cruise control, and fog lights. then again i found the diy on here for fog lights, so thats one on my projects for this summer.

Was it listed on AutoTrader? I remember I was looking at a lot of listings about that time ... I bought ti #2 in November. Winchester isn't very big, so it's not likely there were two for sale at the same time.

thanks man. i love the way the car looks, i just hate the wheels. as soon as i get the repairs done that i need to do, i'm going to throw on some new wheels, those steel wheels just are not cutting it. and maybe get a cat-back exhaust system. nothing too loud though being that i'm a music buff.

Yes, the hubcaps are pedestrian, but those steelies could be used for snow tires.
