Default buying first car!

So i'm looking into purchasing my first car
I've looked around and i've fallen in love with with the 318ti
any pointers as to what I should look for and also is there any one out there looking to sell
btw im from la but go to school in sd

Yep, these pop up on Craigslist LA/OC/SD fairly regularly- just don't overpay for one, as some sellers have this impression that these are rare or hard to find cars and they are basically neither (unless it's a genuine Club Sport or '99 Sport). What is sometimes hard to find is a very clean, lower-mileage example that only had one or maybe two owners, isn't beat to hell, was never wrecked, and was regularly maintained and serviced throughout its life.

Just be patient- the right one will come along. It may take a few or even several months, but it will save you time and headaches in the long run.

If the mechanicals are as well kept as the interior and exterior, that is a very fair price. I would jump on it if you have that kind of money. It's always better to buy the best kept car you can afford rather than trying to fix up a beater.
