Default A/C Exterior Smell---Help!!!

On a 90+F day, I drove my baby home with the a/c on. Drive was about 25 minutes.
When I got out of the car, there was this strong, chemical odor. Is it freon?
It also is not keeping up with cooling like it used to.
Any ideas what's wrong with my baby?
No smell on the interior, but the exterior smell is strong and stays in the garage for a long time.
Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

freon does not have a strong odor and it does disipate quickly. If you had a freon leak you more than likely have none left.
