Default Maintenance and repairs?

Hello everyone! Considering buying one of these babies. Just one main question I have on mind. How much is the cost of maintenance and repairs, in general terms, relative to more common cars such as a Civic.

the cooling systems have a couple of plastic connectors that will become brittle and break, the parts are really cheap, but if you're paying someone to fix it for you, the labor costs will be pretty high

there is also a problem with the window regulators using cheap grease, which will at some point cause the window to come off the track, that's a free fix if you do it yourself

other than that they are very reliable, fun cars, and if you're mechanically inclined there are very detailed write-ups in the knowledge base on fixing both of those problems

Maintenance has been pretty cheap I must say. I've had my 1996 Ti for three years now. It's been incredibly reliable and I agree with tifreak. I've heard of window regulator failure, and Waterneck breakage. They do however make a metal waterneck which can be obtained cheaply and the window regulators are surely any easy fix for most. Most other parts can still be obtained cheaply as well. Waterpump $50.00, Altenator $50, DriveShaft $100, Differential and Tranny have both been found for under $300 just to name a few..

In the 34 months that I've had my car, I've spent an average of $110.11/month on repairs and maintenance. I don't know how that compares to other cars, but there's a data point for ya to consider. :-)
