Default Power Steering Pump to Rack Hose - connector difference

I've been working through replacing the steering rack on my ti (old one was leaking), and went ahead and replaced the hoses while I was at it.

Everything fits as expected, except the hose from the top of the pump to the rack (32411093341) -- I went with the Burgaflex version of the hose and have found that the connector is slightly different. Per the pic below, the Burgaflex connector has a bit of a "gap" between the nut and the threads, so the nut doesn't sit flush like it did with the old connector.

Is this cosmetic (the the o-ring and threads will still seal everything up)? I'm hoping for some insight so I don't test my assumption by dumping ATF all over the neighborhood. Is this is a "feature" to help keep things cleaner versus the original design?
