Cali roof adjustment -removing inside liner

So I finally addressed and fixed the seal leaks in my cali roof with enormous amounts of silicone.

next step is to adjust the tightness of the roof itself. the middle section doesnt lay as flat and tight as it should.
I have read in other threads that It can be adjusted by pulling a strap.

I can see the strap, but I am not sure how to remove the inside liner to the roof.

headliner is out to be recovered. It looks like I need to remove the inside liner to access the roof components to tighten the strap to make it tighter

anyone one have any tips on how to do this?

cali roofs to me are like girls, we all really like them but for the life of it we cannot figure them out completely but merely come to a sort of uneasy understanding
