Contour Pics:

Not prefect, but straight and true, perfect for a DIY refinish project.

Thinking about paint for those, I vote for a charcoal center "star" and silver lips... Something like the rims on this car: http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum...46&postcount=5

Subtle... I like it. I am hip to the idea of white on a blue car but not many I run that by seem to be fond of that.

I don't think contours would look that good in white, I like what James posted

Man it took me a while to find this thread.

The S50 in this ti developed a rod knock, other projects got in the way and the result is that the car has been sitting for years.

I have decided to turn this ti into a dedicated track car. After years of beating my E46 at autocross and track days I totally see the benefit of a dedicated track car. Because this ti is not a Club Sport or even a Sport, it is the perfect candidate.

The S50 will be replaced with an aluminum block M52. I did not want to slow things by waiting on a rebuild for the S50. Even with some upgrades the M52 will be give up some power to the S50 it replaces but the M52 will get the job done.

M52 with some S50/52 cams and proper tuning and proper injector size makesdecent power and since you are going aluminium block you should she decent handling from the weight reduction.

Funny you should mention S50 cams M-technik-3...

S50 cams.

To keep things simple I am going to use the exact mods I had on the S50 on the M52 and add S50 cams to the M52.

S50 cams installed with shorty headers.

New upper chain, guides and tensioner before a rebuilt vanos went on.

S50/M50 oil filter housing.

70-90lbs between the iron block and the aluminum block if memory serves.

Funny that's my buddies former E34 540iT converted to a manual, fun car for a big wagon. I owned a Nurburgring edition M5T while I was stationed at Spangdahlem with him.
