Ok, heres a question that some of you may or may not know. I am currently on D2 coilovers and im pretty dern low. My rear is completely maxed out, i have the collars out and upper spring pad, it tucks my tire quite a bit. But i want to go lower, in the rear that is. What is the lowest spring i could put in there. it has to be from an e30 i believe, i wanna get stiffer spring rates in the rear too. if anyone knows the lowest coilover spring for the rear of an e30 LMK. __________________ Im guessing im the youngest member on here with a S52 power'ed Ti at 16 years old! | | | 11-24-2011, 11:47 PM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2011 Location: Philly Posts: 605 | LOWEST? TC Kline, Hyperco, Swift, etc. offer all different spring lengths. Measure what you have now and get something stiffer and shorter. __________________ ~Dave~ 98 328ti Morea Grun slicktop 11 128i space gray slicktop 13 JGC WK2 Deep Cherry Search | RealOEM | | | 11-25-2011, 04:31 AM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2009 Location: MD/PA/DC Posts: 1,629 | Just take the springs out. Set it on the bumpstops. If it's a straight rate 2" spring without a behive, just cut them. __________________ No more ti. | | | 11-25-2011, 06:33 AM | #9 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2010 Location: Scranton/Wilkes-barre area PA Posts: 454 | Quote: Originally Posted by familytruckster Just take the springs out. Granted they were stock springs but i doubt that just because they are from coilovers its any different. But what's your take on cutting springs? Rice? Blasphemy? or an acceptable practice? __________________ ***Derek*** ^^Lola^^ Pioneer radio/ Pioneer 6-Disk CD Changer/ JBL 601.1 Grand Touring Amplifier/ Bilstein Sport shocks/ Bilstein e36sedan springs/ Green LED Courtesy Lights Accident Counter: 3... | | | 11-25-2011, 01:50 PM | #10 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2011 Location: Philly Posts: 605 | how close will this be to the ground? | | | 11-25-2011, 02:26 PM | #11 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2010 Location: Potomac Falls VA DMV Posts: 1,794 | There is no way in hell I'm cutting springs haha. Dave had a great suggestion and I might work on that. But should I measure when they are settled or when they are out of the car? Cause they do like to settle a little bit __________________ Im guessing im the youngest member on here with a S52 power'ed Ti at 16 years old! | | | 11-25-2011, 03:00 PM | #12 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2007 Location: Elizabeth City, NC Posts: 3,877 | Measure them when they are out of the car. I know TC Kline has normal and shorty length for both front and rear. I forget what the rears are but normal fronts are 7" and shorties are around 6.5". Swift has 1" increments starting at 6" length. Do you know what the spring rates are currently? __________________ ~Dave~ 98 328ti Morea Grun slicktop 11 128i space gray slicktop 13 JGC WK2 Deep Cherry Search | RealOEM | | | 11-25-2011, 03:17 PM | #13 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2010 Location: Potomac Falls VA DMV Posts: 1,794 | They are too stiff I don't think. Just the normal D2 coil over rates. I just want a shorter stiffer spring from a good company haha. __________________ Im guessing im the youngest member on here with a S52 power'ed Ti at 16 years old! | | | 11-25-2011, 06:10 PM | #14 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2007 Location: Elizabeth City, NC Posts: 3,877 | There are plenty of good options for springs, measure yours off the car, post up the length and see if you can get the rate from D2 so you know where your starting rate is. __________________ ~Dave~ 98 328ti Morea Grun slicktop 11 128i space gray slicktop 13 JGC WK2 Deep Cherry Search | RealOEM | | | 11-25-2011, 06:49 PM | #15 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2010 Location: Potomac Falls VA DMV Posts: 1,794 | True true.
