OK, this one has stumped me and the parts guys at 2 different dealerships. i need the part numbers for the little black plastic connector (that holds the light bulb in place) that snaps onto the clear plastic "illuminated ring" (part that holds the cigerette lighter socket in place in the console) as well as the 90 degree angle bulb that goes into the black plastic connector... big points to anyone who can provide this...

Ive been looking at that diagram: #13 is the illuminated ring, the part number i gave above is indeed the part number for the bulb...
but: the bulb socket or holder that snaps onto the illuminated ring is nowhere to be found
any other challengers?

it may well be part of the storing partition (#3): http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...51&fg=35&hl=41 i can't get the damn socket out of the storing partition. not sure if you have to get the metal portion out of the clear lens before the clear lens comes out of the storing partition or not. there's another lens that goes over to illuminate under the storing partition itself, which goes into that black clip as well. ok, got the socket and lens out. w00t! __________________ 1996 318ti, California package, 267k miles

yup, thats the part I need, can you see any numbers on the piece at all. Usually there is at least a partial part number. At least you are lucky, yours looks glueable, mine is melted to nothing...

of course there are no numbers on THAT part, that's the one we need! lol what a pisser ... i'm going to post up a pic of all the little bits. there are some others that aren't shown anywhere ... i would imagine they HAVE to be part of some other part (like the lens that goes from the socket to the ash tray). the light ring around the socket even has a part number, but doesn't appear to be available separately. i might be able to glue mine, but i wonder how long it would actually hold. it was a good fight to get the angle piece with the bulb out of it. i can only imagine if i had to get that out of it again once i'd glued the broken piece that i would break it again  __________________ 1996 318ti, California package, 267k miles

I bought the "illuminated ring" (clear plastic ring that surrounds the metal), its not part of that. i wouldn't guess that it's part of the metal socket because it doesnt really attach to the socket. i guess it could be part of the lightbulb considering how difficult it is to remove to bulb from the socket. i'm driving to indiana on saturday to pick up a tranny for my ti, its from a 4 door 318 that was totaled. I'm gonna pull the lighter from that one to see if my illusive part is in 4-doors too! if i can't get it from that car i'll PM you, super glue goes a long way sometimes...

man, that's whack. i hate trying to find small parts like that. i couldn't find the little metal tabs that hold the parking brake cable clips that attach to the rear sway bar links either. just ended up cleaning and painting mine up. __________________ 1996 318ti, California package, 267k miles
