Default Ads

Curious to know how people feel about the ads.
Ads are necessary to pay for the site.

Currently between the ads and site supporters, there is income to cover monthly costs with a cushion of a couple months.

If I removed the ads, would you be willing to donate $10/year with a goal of $125.00/month.

The answer to all your ad block needs:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1865

No annoying pop ups, and no annoying ads. You can easily disable it by clicking on it. I promise, you won't regret it.

So...."I don't mind the ads. Leave them there."

Do you still see money if the ads are blocked though? I'd be willing to actually turn off my adblocker just so you accrue money from my visits.

That would be the plan. I already have extra ads for guests.

haha.. i can see it now..

a guest stumbles to the site, and they are like "wow, a site that talks about the car i just bought, this could be useful" they click on the "forums" link, and 100 ads pop up, covering there entire computer screen.

haha.. the ads arn't to bad if they pay the bills... maybe it will be a reminder to help donate alittle cash.

if its possible, can there be a ad-free version of this website.
if you just load it with ads, then there is no motivation to raise money and get them removed ever.. maybe the people who donate get the ad-free version, and the normal guest get a normal amount of adds, and then the guests are hit alittle harder.

also, you could shorten the amount of time to get the add free version. instead of it being like $10 for 1 year, change it or add an option for like $10 for 3 months/ 6months (whatever you lose in ad money) and have an ad free version or something..

the donaters help lift the ad burden if there are alot, and it ganentees them add free.

..

it doesnt bother me that much, but i have been thinking about the donates for awhile. i was the admin on another website and i helped raise money to keep the site going.. but that was awhile ago, and normally it involved illegal raffle games for prizes like xbox 360 and psp's .. (illegal because of the lack of tax being paid, haha, we considered it donates because the site was registered non-profit)

--

maybe fund raiser for like, performance parts.. ? haha

My brain automagically will tune them out, like it does with fat chicks. No big deal to me.

I have a donation option of $5/6 months. 0.50 goes to paypal.

Guests see one additional ad. The site is not ad free. I can't afford it on site supporters alone. Not that I don't appreciate it guys and girls.

I think we've become so accustomed to them that we hardly notice them.
I think I'll just replace the site supporter subscription with the donation link on the index page.
