I found a good deal on a swap kit but I'm not sure what else I would need to make it all work. here's alist of whats included... Included: ZF tranny Drive shaft Trans mount Shifter Hydraulic lines Flywheel with a temp clutch and pressure plate Shifter boot Wooden used shift knob Slave cylinder Master cylinder NOT INCLUDED does that sound like its all I would need? also the tranny is coming out of a 95 M3. what else do I need to worry about when doing the swap? any advice? | | | 02-27-2007, 04:38 AM | #2 | doesn't care about you. I also heard mixed stories about the Ti drive shafts (manual) being good to use with a M3 tranny. don't get me wrong I'm not questioning you by any means. It's just that so many different people say so many different things. almost information overload. so what you are saying is that pretty much the best thing to do is to find a wrecked M3 and do the swap. damn too bad I will have to pass up this deal. $900 was a good price for the swap. | | | 03-10-2007, 06:08 PM | #4 | Junior Member Join Date: Aug 2006 Location: Philadelphia Posts: 17 | This question is along the lines of a tranny swap, but not auto to man. Does anyone have any information on whether the E46 6 speed manual tranny will bolt onto the M44? Which drive shaft would be needed? Does anybody have a 6spd 318ti??? | | | 03-10-2007, 06:20 PM | #5 | NOBODY F's with the Jesus Join Date: Oct 2006 Location: Ventura California Posts: 7,824 | Quote: Originally Posted by op'z318M This question is along the lines of a tranny swap, but not auto to man. If you're looking to change your gear ratio, it would be much easier and less expensive to swap your rear differential. | | | 03-10-2007, 06:47 PM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2004 Location: Port St. Johns, Florida Posts: 2,242 | what's needed for a ZF swap(Say from a 328)? This is going from a 5spd Getrag to the 5spd ZF? Figure if I have to replace the current getrag might as well upgrade when the time comes...not that I have to, this is just cause I am curious to what the ZF would need, vs just bolting on and going with a new Getrag. | | | 03-10-2007, 10:48 PM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2005 Location: Portland Or Posts: 2,666 | With the little extra from the higher sixth gear I'd be very happy at 70 or so on the freeway, would drop my rev's a bit... I think its a cool idea. Changing rear end ratio would reduce the out of the hole factor this car has now... I would prefer to use added acceleration from a 3.73 diff and use the six spd to tame the RPMs, but im not sure if the E46 6spd tranny will fit in the Ti.. And the E36 EVO 6spd Tranny was only available in Europe... | | | 03-11-2007, 04:43 AM | #9 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2006 Location: Central NJ Posts: 2,440 | I think the euro 6-speed will work. Like you mentioned, the evo one, I guess. | | | 03-11-2007, 05:35 AM | #10 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2004 Location: Port St. Johns, Florida Posts: 2,242 | E36 EVO 6spd Tranny was only available in Europe that doesn't mean shiet.
