Default Camshaft Sensor Problem?

Hey guys, i had my code read, and came back for a Camshaft Postition sensor.. Should i go ahead and replace it? or should i first check to see if theres somehting loose or shotage of some sort..should i remove the sensor from the block and just clean it off, might that give it some life back? the Code reader came up with a misfire in all 4 cylinders, would that be cause by the camshaft? also would the sensor make my engine idle so rough? i have a 98ti with 142K..

You likely need to just replace the sensor. You can try removing it from the head, cleaning the metal shavings from it, then retrying it, it may help, it may not. I have a couple of them sitting in the garage if you need one.

you mean i can just remove the sensor off the original one without unplugging and removing the manifold.. how much of a pain is it to remove the manifold?

I belive the Manifold is only held on by 5 or 6 bolts.. after that is there anything else that needs to be removed or is that bascially enough for me to get under there and plug it in?

just do it. take one step at a time and pay close attention at what you're doing so you can put it back together. its not as hard as you think.
