Car is for autoX and limited track days. My son (teen ti) does not think that is stiff enough for the rear. I know some of you here run 600 and over on the rear. Any thoughts? | | | 01-21-2017, 12:56 AM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2007 Location: Elizabeth City, NC Posts: 3,877 | What swaybars? No sway in the rear usually needs to be compensated with higher rear rates. I ran 450/600 for a few years and it was a nice setup. What struts/shocks? Can't go too high on the basic off the shelf options. __________________ ~Dave~ 98 328ti Morea Grun slicktop 11 128i space gray slicktop 13 JGC WK2 Deep Cherry Search | RealOEM | | | 01-21-2017, 01:28 AM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2010 Location: Horseheads, NY Posts: 259 | 28mm eibach front adjustable sway bar on stiffest setting. Stock sway bar on rear. Strut brace on rear (kind of cheap and flimsy) Koni yellow fully adjustable all the way round. Currently have H & R "race" springs, do not know the rate for them but they feel pretty soft. 17x8 Moda wheels (Very Heavy) with Bridgestone 245/40x17 all way round. | | | 01-21-2017, 01:38 AM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2010 Location: Horseheads, NY Posts: 259 | Sorry, forgot that I have poly bushings up front and rear trailing arm bushings and subframe bushings are being replaced this winter with all poly. | | | 01-21-2017, 01:37 PM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2007 Location: Elizabeth City, NC Posts: 3,877 | Yeah H&R springs are usually way too soft for the amount of lowering they provide. I think with stock sway bars you'll be okay with the springs you chose. The Koni yellows should be able to handle something a bit stiffer if you want to go there. Once you go to the coilover conversion it's awesome because you can test out all kinds of different spring rates to see what suits your driving style. People are always selling used springs on the forums and Facebook. __________________ ~Dave~ 98 328ti Morea Grun slicktop 11 128i space gray slicktop 13 JGC WK2 Deep Cherry Search | RealOEM | | | 01-21-2017, 04:14 PM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2010 Location: Horseheads, NY Posts: 259 | Thanks Dave. I will go with what I ordered. I has to be better than what I have right now! | | | 01-26-2017, 01:38 PM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2010 Location: Horseheads, NY Posts: 259 | Decided to change the order a little. I left the fronts at 440 and upped the rear springs to 600 with the idea that I will be able to take the rear sway bar off. I will mess around with it at our first test session in the spring. | | | 02-17-2017, 08:26 PM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2011 Location: SoCal Posts: 702 | Quote: Originally Posted by joe1602 Decided to change the order a little. Interested in how you like it with no rear sway bar. __________________ ***328ti Build thread. *** Even more important: SUPPORT 318ti.org! CLICK THE LINK ABOVE!
