I have learned two things so far. A: the ride is too stiff, I need to back off some on the adjustment. What was fine when I was 17 is not good when I am 37. My car currently rides like all those cut spring hondas you see running around. B: I need to take more stiffness out of the front than the rear. I got into a sharp series of corners this morning, sticking with an E36 M3... for a couple of moments I was really fighting the car, as it wanted to understeer badly. As you can imagine, I did not want to let off or touch the brakes as this was a 35 mph series of corners taken at 65mph... I surprised the hell out of the M3.. but I also gave myself a racing heart and sweaty palms from the near miss. I am used to my car being just a touch tailhappy (oversteering) | | | 10-24-2007, 05:10 AM | #8 | aka Stabby Join Date: Nov 2004 Location: Mead, CO Posts: 5,336 | Quote: Originally Posted by Mad-Machine I used to have about a 4 1/2 inch gap between the tyre and fender.. yes, it was large. no that pic was not with the car jacked up, but just after it had been lowered, so the suspension had not yet settled from being jacked up. | damn. no wonder i used to be able to change my oil without having to jack up the car or use ramps. i miss those days __________________ 1996 318ti, California package, 267k miles current mods: bilstein sports, bavauto springs, e30 m3 LCABs, solid metal ball joints, bavauto RSMs w/reinforcements, e30 3.73 LSD & halfshafts, supersprint cat-back exhaust, turner rear sway bar reinforcements, IE poly subframe & RTABs + camber/toe kits, powdercoated e36 32x front calipers, sport mirrors, H&R 28mmF/19mmR sway bars, x-brace, auto solutions SSK w/poly bushing upgrade, BMW CD43 head unit, DICE HD Radio w/iPod integration and "stealth" HD antenna, staggered style 68s, orange electronic TPMS, leather arm rest, JT Designs metal undertray acquired and awaiting install: heated seat kit, cali top switch relo, lumbar support kit, park distance control kit, heated washer nozzle kit, m-coupe rear subframe, trailing arms, differential, and halfshafts, m-coupe front/rear brakes with master cylinder, under hood light kit, mud flaps, rear sun blind, auto-dimming rear view mirror, tilt steering wheel retrofit, apexcone 5000K HIDs with 55W ballasts 2002 X5 4.4 Sport Package, 53.5k miles Current Mods: e46 m3 steering wheel | | | 10-24-2007, 05:35 AM | #9 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2007 Location: SW Florida Posts: 4,275 | Quote: Originally Posted by cali-ti damn. no wonder i used to be able to change my oil without having to jack up the car or use ramps. i miss those days | lol __________________ Sean 1995 Active | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
