I went to open the window even more, but the down button didnt work. It feels like the thing underneath the button (which give the car the signal to move it) is gone, and the button just goes down without hitting anything. The window went up fine, and when I push the button up, I can feel that there is contact, however it does not work going down. This is on the drivers side. has anyone had this problem before, and how do you fix it?? Not being able to put my window does is very annoying and inconveniencing: frown:. | | | 09-09-2011, 02:52 AM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2009 Location: MD/PA/DC Posts: 1,629 | sounds like you need a new switch. You can swap it with the passenger side one and see if it works. __________________ No more ti. | | | 09-09-2011, 03:46 AM | #3 | Junior Member Join Date: Dec 2008 Location: Canada Posts: 11 | how do i change it? does it just pop out or is there a certain way to get it out? | | | 09-09-2011, 03:53 AM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2009 Location: MD/PA/DC Posts: 1,629 | the black surround pulls up, the part that both the blank and switch are in, then you can pop the switch itself out- it comes out the top of the surround. __________________ No more ti. | | | 09-10-2011, 01:17 AM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2007 Location: asdfasdf Posts: 10,002 | is it not working at all or is it intermittent? I only ask because my 96 ti started having the windows not work intermittently | | | 09-10-2011, 01:30 AM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: MD Posts: 126 | Yeah, the switches just get worn out after a while. I noticed when my driver's side window switch no longer had the automatic option working with it, then the entire down direction stopped working. It happens, just replace the switch. __________________ '96 318ti Base - few mods installed... | | | 09-10-2011, 01:35 AM | #7 | Junior Member Join Date: Dec 2008 Location: Canada Posts: 11 | Yeah the switch just stopped working. It clicks when I push up but not when I push down. I took it out, easily enough. It just pops out and you disconnect the wires. Now I'm waiting for a replacement in the mail. BMW wanted 140 for it, but I found it online for 30. Thanks for the help guys | | | 09-10-2011, 03:27 AM | #8 | NOBODY F's with the Jesus Join Date: Oct 2006 Location: Ventura California Posts: 7,824 | It's important to buy the right color. Depending on your build date, the switches have different color bottoms. | | | 09-12-2011, 06:32 AM | #9 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2005 Location: Portland Or Posts: 2,666 | There is a little plastic bit inside that broke in mine...
