I'm going to try to peel the black liner off the original panel first. I don't expect that to work, but nothing ventured, nothing gained. heh heh

In other news... the only other hurdle aside from the vinyl panel liner is figuring out how to compress the foam on the headliner cloth that's going on the sliding part of the sunroof that's inside the car. Everything I've read says that the normal headliner cloth is too thick and will bind. So, only 2 hurdles to overcome and I'll be able to put it all back together.

BTW... for those who are reading this thread and considering recovering their headliner, be aware that my situation is a little unusual. I'm recovering my headliner at the same time as some hail repair was being done, so a couple of the issues I've run into wouldn't apply in a "normal" situation.

well answer is 3 LOL i just did mine today missin A pillars and sunroof, im having a REALLY hard time with the sunroof cant remove it

what part are you having trouble with? take a pic, I am sure it's nothing we can't figure out. I am doing mine as well but will be doing lots of work on the interior prior to reinstalling. I have a cali top so mine is almost like a sunroof.

the cover for the sunrrof, the one that has the fabric attached to it.
cant figure out how to remove it. but yeah i did mine a different color, it was that beige or dove, and i did it calypso red

Pull it down from the part closest to the sunroof. Velcro is the only thing holding it together. be careful but you will see it if you pull down a little in case you are scared. Yours might have a clip like the image below.

trikzta... there are good instructions in this thread, can't recall the author. To get that sliding cloth-covered part out, remove the actual metal sunroof panel from the top, then you can get to the lower part easily.

You'll need to bump the sunroof open just a bit until you're able to EASILY slide that cloth-covered part all the way back. That'll give access to 3 17mm nuts along the back edge of the metal panel. Removing those will allow better access to the torx (t20?) bolts, 1 on each side. Once you remove the panel, there are 10 small screws holding in the cloth-covered part.

Look for the other instructions in this thread for a better description. :-)

Pictures that might be useful for DIY writeup. Pin on sunroof that you press in with screwdriver to release. Electrical plug/blade on visor.

Sunvisor mount, use small flathead to slide back screw covers. Also a blade type connector, be careful not to pull entire metal plate out of plastic.

Window underneath seat belt adjustment knob (b pillar). Release indent with small screwdriver and pull off knob. Two headliner fasteners above rear window. Two piece, slide back plug first.

The sunroof uses a 25 mm torx, but a 20mm would work in a pinch. I followed Hwy1Strat's sunroof instructions, thanks very useful.

Yourautotrim sent me tweed samples and went with the same color that Hwy1Strat chose. It looks great against the sandoval hell interior of my Ti. Looks better than OEM.
I used three cans of adhesive from yourautotrim and made a last minute run to homedepot for an additional can of 3M 80 adhesive.

I tried removing the material sublayer from A pillars but the panels started to crack. They aren't ABS like the B and C pillars, but some kind of poly (maybe). The OEM base material was not coming off so I laid tweed over the top. Also covered C panels but left B panels uncovered.

If the A pilar covers are the same for all 3 series as I suspect they might be, in hind sight I would have purchased new.

I don't know about B-pillars but A-pillars I believe are the same as the sedan and the C-pillars are ti specific
