Default What kind of Battery do you have?

Hey guys,
This is more for the guys that have systems in their car I.E amps that kind of thing. My battery died today and i had to buy another one... Its an optima battery with 750 cold cranking wattts or something like that. I paid like 180 for it i was wondering what kind of batteries you guys have, and how much you paid. I also have a capacitator in the trunk to help the wattage.

Thanks

The Optima battery is what everyone suggests to buy, exspecially if you have a system. I will be buying one soon & several people on here have them.

What color is it,blue,red,yellow?

Ive got an Optima blue in my car, killed it in one week, but then decided
it was cause i kept running my system without the car running.
Put another Blue Top in, and never run my system without tha car running
and I have no problems. BTW my system is close to 2000W all together.

What about adding a second battery hooked to the audio. Put a meter in your dash and you will never be without sound again. Adds some weight but it also balances a lil better as it goes in the hatch.

I thought about doing that, but i odnt have the time or the money to wire it into the back. That is the best way to do it but, this way has worked for atleast 5 years, and it went dead mostly because i occasionaly play it with out having the car on too. Which i have learnt not to do.

I have an Exide which came with the car when I bought it, and was only a few months old.

Optima yellow tops are the favorites if you have a large current draw, although they are not actually meant to be used for starting engines, which is a job for a red top. If you had the money and space you could go for a red up front and a yellow in the back.

What makes the yellows excellent for ICE is that you can drain them completedly without damaging them at all.

Easiest thing to do if your worried about your battery is just to get a voltage meter. Stinger do an inexpensive item, or you can get one with a capacitor or just check the battery now and again with a multimeter

Someone either back me up on this, or correct me if im wrong, but I think
you have it backwards. The RedTop is more geared for ICE applications,
while the YellowTop is more of an engine battery.

The red top is designed for cranking power, especially good for stating engines. The yellow top is a deep cycle battery, so it can be fully discharged a number of times without damaging itself, therefore it is specially designed for running electrical accessories.
