Also, visit Pelicanparts.com and page through their online DIY section with many pictures and step by step guide. __________________ 1995 Hellrot Clubsport 318ti -Gone 1996 Schwartz II Sport 357ti - 5.7L V8 LS1/6 1997 Moregrun Metallic 318ti - Gone 1998 Schwartz II sport 318ti - M50TUB25/5 | | | 03-19-2010, 07:06 PM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2008 Location: Omaha, NE Posts: 737 | Guibo = flex disc. Not sure how it got that name. It goes between the transmission and the driveshaft. Not sure where the center support bearing is, but neither of them seem like they'd be too difficult to replace. As frustrating as it is to have problems like you have right after buying a car, your issues have been relatively minor compared to my old car. I had it for roughly 9 months and it was in the shop for roughly half that time because of problems with the alternator, distributor, and cam position sensor. It left me stranded and I had to have it towed 3-4 times, and besides the problems I mentioned, it also had a major oil leak (I was easily putting in 1-2 quarts every 10 days), needed a new clutch, and a new suspension. I would say once you fix the current problems, take the car to Cordel or the dealership to have a post-purchase pre-purchase inspection done. That should give you an idea of the condition of the rest of the vehicle. If they find a lot of problems, selling the car might be a good idea. If there are just a few, you have to make the choice of keeping it or letting it go. Obviously, I'm hoping you keep the car. :-) Justin | | | 03-19-2010, 09:04 PM | #7 | Member Join Date: Mar 2010 Location: omaha Posts: 61 | i would love to keep this car !! as soon as i seen it i was sold !! loved it .. test drove it, fell even more in love. but after such horrible experiences im to the point all that went out the window. im trying not to be so hard headed and just except the fact that this kinda stuff happens. its my anger getting the best of me. i just got a job to start on monday. my car overheated again today. its snowing here. and i get to go outside and take off my manifold etc.. again !! im hoping after this it will be over with. i have a couple days to go through everything with a fine tooth comb and hopefully (sounds weird) i am the one to blame for overlooking something. plus id really like to put a turbo on it hahaha.. now that would be fun car to drive !! thanks for the responses i do appreciate it. ive done some pretty big repair jobs on cars (at least i think so) and this one just baffles me. back to the drawing board .. ill keep ya updated .. thanks again | | | 03-21-2010, 07:24 AM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2005 Location: Portland Or Posts: 2,666 | Its very common for folks to have trouble purging air out of the cooling system... It will cause the car to overheat. I find a bottle of redline watter wetter helps purge it right out... I've had new cars with more problems.... Than the TI with 157K has ever given me... Oil all over the engine compartment (i think it was aleaky valve cover gasket, but why were they messing with it in the first place!?). Even though there are 10 things wrong with my TI that could be fixed yesterday, and probably 10 things wrong I dont even know about yet, I love it! Everyone here is very helpful, get your hands a little dirty and you wont be sorry. Once you get it settled in I'm sure it wont disappoint you its a BMW and you can stick a washing machine in the back! everyone seems to have good things to say about redline! I find the royal is just a tad clingier to surfaces than most other oils. Seems to help...
