Default Just bought a ti with a swapped motor

Good morning, I'm Matt and I'm new to this forum.

My brother owns a BMW shop in Phoenix and he regularly builds unique Bimmers. I just received a 1996 318ti with a 2.8L engine. He purchased the car a few months ago without a motor and found a wrecked 328 for the donor parts. It's a pretty sweet ride.

I look forward to learning more on the forums!

Welcome!

I have a 1995 with a 2.8L M52 as well. If you have any questions hopefully I can help.

Thanks! I still need to source a 188mm diff. Did you swap the rear end in your ti?

Not yet. I've been fairly happy with how it performs with the stock ti diff so far. It's on the list though.

I have a 188 410LSD. You can use your stock axles if you use the small case flanges. You should get the correct 6cyl axles though

Try this link if you're interested in a Diff swap.

You're welcome amigo, good luck with your build. That link is somewhere here on the forum, I found it months ago.

I know it's an old post but I just stumbled upon it. That's funny... I think I know your brother Alex. He built a couple of cars I own, a 318ti and an E30 318is both with built s52/s50. I think my old seats are in your car. Your brother is great guy and mechanic; I wouldn't own BMWs if it weren't for him.

Hey Tak, you've seen the car and the seats are terrific! I love the ti. My only fear is tearing up the rear end - hence my questions above about modding it.

I've seen your ti as well. It's beautiful - and I hear it's fast!
