I've been checking out this forum for a couple weeks and decided to go ahead and join. I'm a 39 year old (for a couple more weeks anyway) father of 7 (that's not a typo). I'm an auto mechanic with 14 years experience (11 with Ford and 3 with an independent bus dealer). I bought a 98 318ti a few weeks ago. The car is in decent shape with only 125k on the clock. I've already fixed a few things: front struts, oil filter housing leak, and other minor issues. I've never owned a BMW before, and this forum and a few others have already come in handy in my search for info. Hopefully, I can contribute to the knowledge base here as I progress in my ownership experience. Cooling system plastic is probably your next task if that hasn't already been replaced... the plastic elbow at the rear of the cylinder head is an engine killer if it fails and you don't catch it in time. __________________ 1995 318ti Base - Cosmosschwarz/Sandgrau R.I.P. 1997 318ti Active - Alpinweiß III/Sandgrau 2013 328i Coupe - Le Mans Blau | | | 10-21-2015, 02:19 PM | #6 | Member Join Date: Oct 2015 Location: Slidell, Louisiana USA Posts: 89 | Thanks for the tip zoner, those have recently been replaced. The elbow at the back of the head is the reason I have the car. The last owner originally contacted me about repairing a coolant leak and mentioned he was thinking of selling the car after it was fixed. The leak ended up being that elbow. | | | 10-21-2015, 03:33 PM | #7 | Member Join Date: Apr 2015 Location: MILLWOOD KY Posts: 37 | Welcome!
