Default Bilstein Touring

Has anyone in the ORG run Bilstein Touring with H&R/BavAuto Sport Springs?

I need to refresh my almost 170K mile suspension, but don't have $600 to blow on Bilstein Sports... I could handle $300 for the Touring, or should I just stick to OEM SACHS Sport which are still a bit more money that the Touring.

Any and all insights, info, and opinions welcome...

Thanks in advanced!

The tourings are meant for stock springs and have a longer internal travel than the billy sports. With the shorter sport springs you will have the shock bottoming out more often which will cause it to wear out more quickly. I'm sure you could get away with it for a while but they will eventually need to be replaced. The other thing is that they won't have the stiffer damping of a sport shock so it might not feel as sporty as you would like.

Well...
I thought the HD's were meant for replacing Stock and Tourings had a bit sportier Damping... HD's are a bit more expensive than the Sports too!... You know that there is a bushing to replace on the rears at least, to prevent the rear shock from bottoming... The M tech bushing seems to be larger than the one BavAuto offers, and it is $50 compared to $15 respectively.
Here's the deal...
Replacing OEM Sports would end up costing about $475 with the extras... and they're not designed for the lower suspension either, compared to Touring Bilstein that would come out to $350 with extras...

The thing is that the front of the car feels fine right now, it is the rear that has always seemed a bit low, even when it had OEM Springs, and now after the Spring upgrade the rear seems a bit jumpy!...not bouncy though, just that the way it reacts to simple bumps it toughy... like a Damping/Rebound deal...
So I don't know... should I just go with Bilstein Sport Rears with my OEM front with no issues?

From my understanding the tourings are OE replacement while the HDs are OE replacement but a bit more comfortable, then the sports for lowering.

That's true about the bumpstops. As long as you got the correct ones, don't cut the stock ones or anything, that should prevent bottoming out. I know exactly what you mean about the rear feeling touchy, for me it was definitely not having enough damping.

I suppose you could run sports in the back and then eventually down the road get some sports for the front as well.

Xenocide
I already dropped the car with BavAuto Springs...

Spider
I think I might just end up doing Sport Rears then, Sport Bilsteins don't require bump stops as per Bavarian Auto... combined with new mounts and probably thicker spring pads from Turner to raise the rear up a tad...

BTW
How's are the DDM coils running?...

Definitely post a message in CMUZYY's bilstein thread on BF.c for the best prices, if you weren't planning on it already.
http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum...d.php?t=466763

Looks like most complete sets of Bil Sports for Non-M E36 are less than $500 shipped.

Coils are pretty awesome I must say. Once I realized that I didn't have enough damping and turned that up, everything about the ride/handling was immediately better. Fairly comfortable now and corners like it is on rails, I don't even have the sway bar on yet, lol, it's going to be beastly.

I am a definitely a handling junky...
