California Vehicle Code allows clear or amber turn signals... but we have the country's strictest emission laws.

It's not the clears that are illegal, it is the fact that there is no amber reflector.
I do believe the bulb must be amber though.
It's a Federal law, nothing to do with state.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

-U.S. FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD #108 (FMVSS 108) SPECIFICALLY STATES THAT ALL VEHICLES SOLD IN THE UNITED STATES MUST HAVE FRONT DIRECTIONAL SIGNALS / RUNNING LIGHTS THAT EMIT AMBER COLORED LIGHT AND HAVE AN AMBER REFLECTOR VISABLE TO EACH SIDE NEAR THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE.

-FURTHERMORE THE REAR DIRECTIONAL SIGNALS MUST EMIT EITHER RED OR AMBER COLORED LIGHT AND THERE MUST BE A RED REFLECTOR VISABLE TO EACH SIDE NEAR THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE.

-To comply with FMVSS 1 08 it is necessary to install the amber colored bulbs IN ALL THE LAMPS included with the white directional indicator light installation kit and install a front mounted amber reflector on each front fender (except as noted). It is not necessary to install rear, red reflectors as the red reflectors are part of the rear light assembly.

-NEVER SUBSTITUTE AMBER COLORED BULBS WITH CLEAR BULBS

-The detailed factory prepared installation instructions are packaged with the clear indicator lights in the driver side (left) light packing box.

I thought this was common sense!

lol im not sure what dusten is talking about...but the stock lights have clear bulbs because the plastic casing is orange so it still flashes amber...

if you put clears in, you must get bulbs that flash amber...i had the straight orange ones at first, but it stood out too much, so i got some silverstars for 16 bucks...kinda of a blueish tint but still flashes amber.

You can't get a ticket for clear corners, they are 100% legal. I would take this to court and save yourself the $$. Now if you have non amber bulbs like say blue you'll get pulled over and get a ticket for that since blue bulbs aren't legal for on road use. I had blue bulbs for a few years on my ti,never got busted for them. I've been pulled over b4 but no mention on the lights. My friends bro is a cop has been for like 10 years and i asked him about my lights and all he said it depends on the cop he also said mine were not nearly as bright as some of the others on the road.

the clear lenses arent illegal, as long as it still flashes amber...looking at his signature pic...he doesnt have amber bulbs in there...which is probably why he got a ticket...cause they dont flash amber.

For the millionth time, amber bulbs is not the only thing to make them legal.

To be legal they need an amber reflector. In saying that, I have never heard of the reflector being enforced. My car passed inspection with a clear bulb and no reflector. The clear bulb in obnoxious so I replaced it with an amber bulb.

But that does say sold. A lot of time there are different regs for sold and driven. Dealer isnt allowed to apply a tint while that can be an aftermarket thing or from the factory.
