Check the threads, there is a step by step instruction on how to remove the/disconnect the slip ring and possibly installing a new horn connector.
It took me less than 20 minutes to perform the swap.......if/when you have all the tools/parts needed.

You would be removing standard, federally required safety equipment, so that makes sense.
Basically the same as removing the seatbelts. __________________

If it was federally regulated standard equipment when that car was originally sold, its probably illegal to remove such items.
Here's another example:
Would it be legal or illegal to remove your factory installed, federally regulated catalytic converter? __________________

I think the federal requirement is that the manufacturers have to provide them with the car.. To get a ticket for it there would have to be a local state/county/city law against it. Local cops can't enforce federal laws, and I've never seen a federal highway patrol before.. hehehe  I guess if you live somewhere where you get inspections every year you would have to be concerned, but otherwise, go for it if you don't want the airbag. | | | | | 11-02-2006, 09:32 PM | #8 | | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2006 Location: Tacompton, WA Posts: 309 |
