Default Another Dash Swap

I just bought a tan dash and glove box for 100...I've got a few questions and I will try to take pictures and make a comprehensive knowledge base posting...
  • I made sure to buy a 95+ (OBII airbag) e36 sedan Dash...and it's my understanding that it will just fit right in...If not please let me know what I have to do...
  • Does anyone have a wiring diagram to mate the cars headlight harness to the "new" headlight switch?
  • Will the 318ti lower trim mate up to the dash?

You're not going to find a good writeup or a DIY tutorial because there isn't one. I mean think about it, can you even imagine what's involved in doing a dash swap? Retrofitting the HVAC, rewiring headlight/foglight switches and every other electrical gadget to fit the Ti's connectors? Sure it's been done before, but the work is enough to drive anyone insane. The last thing someone who was attempting this swap would want to do is be interupted with the task of taking pictures and documenting every single step of the process. Life doesn't always come with a set of instructions, sometimes you have to just take the jump and hope the chute opens

A sagging glovebox

Most regular e36's suffer from sagging glove box syndrome, the Ti doesn't. The only benefit I see is that the e36 dash looks a little more modern. The headlight switch and foglight button is nicer than our pull style switches, but who cares. I was going to do it as well, but I'm with Marv on this one. It's just not worth it. I've grown to like my Ti's dash and the non-sagging glovebox

Paired with a nice steering wheel like Marv's, maybe some gauge bezel rings and a nice shifter/parking brake handle, the Ti dash/interior can look just as classy if not better than the cheap looking coupe and sedan interiors. Heck, I think our 318ti sport interiors already look sportier, especially if you upgrade to vaders like Marv, Wolferj, L84THSKY, myself and a few others have done.

Speaking of vaders, I've got one installed and the second will be done this weekend, I hope.

I kinda like the pull knobs ... and the stock dash looks no-nonsense/utilitarian.

That's a good way to describe it. I like the simplistic design. Not overly cluttered.
