Default How do you tell a base, or active from a sport?

I recently purchased a '96 318ti. I have no idea if it is a base model, active, or sport. I know it is not a club sport. How do you tell the difference between the different 318ti models? Based on what I've read at this site there were the following models available in the U.S.:
- base
- active
- sport
- club sport
Does the VIN show what model it is? Or is it an equipment level option?

Active models come with a standard auto trans, trip computer and cruise control. I think the sport models came with sport seats and ///M front and rear bumpers. Sorry to hijack the thread but I didnt want to start a new one on the same topic. Can anyone tell if this is a Sport or a Club Sport?

This is a very common question and you should be able to find information by using the search function of this site.

Regarding that specific car... I vote "Sport." It's definitely not a "Club Sport" because that version was only sold in the US in 1995, and very few were made.

Are there annual production numbers for the different 318ti models somewhere on this site?

Whenever i see a funny remark with the Bong sign next to it i think of Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back. Wicked funny movie for those who haven't seen it. Jay just says something stupid and is always like Bong after it.

Dude ti's don't have legs.. Bong

But thats not funny.
