Where did you get that quote? It seems really familiar. LOL __________________ Real men know how to SEARCH! I would have them dye checked if the history is unknown, Track use can wear them out if you run it enough... They look a heck of a lot like the turners... I know a lot of guys racing on them with very good luck. I don't know how easily bent LTW5s are but most lightweight track wheels are cheap(er) because they might get messed up on the track and need to be replaced. What is your purpose for the wheels? Looks? Tracking the car? Daily driver? Just some stuff to think about before committing to a certain set of wheels. __________________ ~Dave~ 98 328ti Morea Grun slicktop 11 128i space gray slicktop 13 JGC WK2 Deep Cherry Search | RealOEM | | | 03-29-2010, 04:30 AM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2009 Location: Baltimore, MD Posts: 130 | well my main reason would be looks and if there is any truth to that quote. def not for track. more for a summer set. also i put on some oem contours non-staggard and even though my handling improved, the bumps are bone jarring.......i thought the bumps felt bad on the stock sport rims but this is crazy. so i guess another reason would be a softer more pleasant ride. i luv how it hugs the road but i swear its like if i hit any bump of any size i am gonna feel it and i think any sec something is gonna fall off. | | | 03-29-2010, 05:25 AM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2005 Location: Portland Or Posts: 2,666 | Tire selection and profile are bigger than the rim weight for that. Low profile tires ride harder, steel belts ride harder than synthetic, tires that need higher air pressure ride harder etc.. In my experience cheap tires have a harsh ride because they use stiffer cheaper belts. Best riding tires I've used are Toyo and Goodyear. YMMV Dave __________________ Dave - PDX 1995 318ti - Active Black and Tan. 2005 330xi - Mtech 1 - 6spd - Orient Blue/Black | | | 03-30-2010, 02:41 AM | #9 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2007 Location: asdfasdf Posts: 10,002 | Quote: Originally Posted by MyTi82 also i put on some oem contours non-staggard and even though my handling improved, the bumps are bone jarring.......i thought the bumps felt bad on the stock sport rims but this is crazy. so i guess another reason would be a softer more pleasant ride. i luv how it hugs the road but i swear its like if i hit any bump of any size i am gonna feel it and i think any sec something is gonna fall off. | if the roads are that bad you will bend lightweight rims, when they make them lighter they also sacrifice some of the strength, it's not a problem on a nice smooth track but on crappy roads you'll need the strength of regular rims | | | 03-31-2010, 04:34 AM | #10 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2009 Location: Baltimore, MD Posts: 130 | i c......thankz for the imputs. | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
