The coil should be testable with an ohm meter. It should also throw a code if the coil is the problem.

What exactly is your car doing that makes you think it's the coil?

When I accelerate hard it gets to aorund 4200 rpms drops to 3800 then climbs back up.It also Idles like it's cammed, but I think the bad ICV is causing that.Could the ICV be making it miss up high in rpms.

FYI, it's one coil pack. It has to be replaced as a unit. From what I understand they're not that cheap. The Bentley manual has pretty detailed instructions on testing the coil pack.

The ICV shoudn't have any effect on the car at anything but idle.

If you think your coil is bad then start the car up and while it's running pull a plug wire and listen to see if the engine runs any differently, do this on each of the wires, if you come to a wire that you can dissconnect without the engine idling differently then you are not getting spark (or fuel) to that cylinder. If you cannot disconnect any wires without the car idling differently then your ignition system is fine.

I'd go ahead and change the fuel filter if you haven't done it recently. A clogged fuel filter will let enough fuel through for lower RPMs, but not enough at the higher end.
