Default Need help removing rear hatch

Hey guys! This is my first post, please be gentle

I am removing the rear hatch from a 1995 318ti parts car. I have not been able to figure out how to disconnect the wires that go into the body of the vehicle. I have already disconnected the struts and the hinges. I traces the wires down into the body, and I do not see any connectors. I also popped off a few of the hatch trim pieces, and I do not see any way to disconnect the wires there, either.

Do I need to just cut the wires and splice them individually when installing the hatch on my 318ti?

My last job was disassembly of various cars for parts, and when removing rear hatches AFAIK there's always a plug, probably further inside the car's bodywork. Try to gently pull out the cable, or twist if the cable is stuck this is probably the plug hooking on the sheet metal inside the bodywork.

I don't recall doing this on an e36 compact specifically, so i might be wrong and perhaps you are better off waiting for a reply of someone who knows for sure.

Good luck!

EDiT: Here's a trunk wiring harness for a M44B19, it looks like one side has to be soldered/spliced, not plugged. I suggest you wait for a reply from someone who's more knowledgeable than me.
