Default Building a 318ti a rally car for WRC Mexico

Hey guys,

Just registered for the site. Bought my first ti like two weeks ago. Drove it like mad in the snow for a day and then ripped it to pieces. I'm primarily rallying 318ti's going forward. I love my E30s but its like BMW wanted to go rallying and fixed every issue I had including space and access, rear sump on the engine, flat bottom, more tucked gas tanks, revised rear sway for more travel, etc.

So its getting cage and armor, a euro s50b32 with grp N tune. 6 spd and 4.10 only because Im driving the rally car to the event (no trailer) and need gearing that will get me there too. Here is the front set up to grab the control arms and extension to the skid plate.

Hey Bill! Glad to have you in the forum! I loved the clips of your E30 in the rally posted on Youtube. Way to go making all the BMW fans proud. I'm certain you'll have a sizable cheering section here as you rally with your ti.

Welcome to the forum!

Rich

Thanks Rich, I'll try to keep it updated as we finish the car in the next day or so and get on the road.

Trying to prevent the car coming apart when I jump it in 5th gear flat out. like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mBry3jg4ItM

Hey Bill, great to see you here! I've been following your adventures since the 2010 run at WRC Mexico. I was super excited when you got the ti and can't wait to see the rest of the build, and of course what you'll be doing with the car afterwards
Best of luck to you!

I have watched a few hours of video while you work on the car for WRC Mexico. I've enjoyed every minute of it. Best of luck completing and competing with your 318ti. I'll be watching!
Also, welcome to the Org.

Default This ought to be great

Welcome Bill,
Watched many a video of yours, and am looking forward to what you are doing here... The community here is great if you run into oddities. Dave Kern's posts may also be of interest to you.

I have the same plans, but I'll be starting out in the local rallies here in FL. I'm getting all my parts, cage, and maintenance items ordered this week.

Any updates on this car? I'm thinking about building a ti for rally-x and would love to find out some of the weak spots on the car before I start racing.

Let's see if I can remember the updates, he's a lot more active on his Facebook.
He finished the car with the Euro S50 swap, but missed WRC Mexico. He did however make it to Empire State Performance Rally that year, but had to retire after cooling trouble resulting from a front impact with a guard rail.

I believe the car ended up getting sold to Team O'Niel Rally School.

So happy to have you here Bill. We'll all be rooting for you. I'm positive that you'll also make the TI cool and quiet some haters.
